Our History
CASA-12, Inc. is a 501(c)(3), non-profit, member supported organization, dedicated to the well-being of all who walk through its doors.
The concept for CASA-12, Inc. was developed in 1987 during a New Year’s Eve meeting/party. CASA-12’s first donor was Jack B., who offered $20 to the newly-formed organization.
In early 1988, a bank account was established, along with the first Board under leadership of Charlie D. The Board was mostly comprised of members in their first year of recovery. A series of fund-raising picnics and other affairs took place throughout the year, as well as a search for property.
In August, the name CASA-12, Inc. was formalized when the organization became incorporated through the help of Marie M. Just four months later, in December, Jim K. moved a “free” double-wide trailer to his property on Wednesday Rd. Enthusiastic CASA members, under the leadership of John M., handled all the refurbishments which took three months to complete. The first CASA-12 location opened in the spring of 1989.
Today, CASA-12 is in its fourth location, and pays a mortgage for property on Monday Road. There are two buildings: a doublewide trailer (CASA) and a small concrete block building (Casita).
